Auction result well in line with expectations
The work 'The Modern Explorer' by George Edward Marston was sold in the Exploration and Travel auction at Christies in London in September 2008. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,750.00 (€ 2,212.70) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Edward Marston achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work S.Y. Endurance Trapped In The Ice In The Weddell Sea in September 2004 with an auction result of GBP 33,460.00 (€ 48,746.99).
