Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by George Edward Marston could be acquired at Christies in London in September 2004 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Exploration and Travel with The Polar Sale auction, the work Hussey With His Banjo On Elephant Island, June 1915 changed hands for GBP 1,792.50 (€ 2,611.45) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Edward Marston achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work S.Y. Endurance Trapped In The Ice In The Weddell Sea in September 2004 with an auction result of GBP 33,460.00 (€ 48,746.99).
