In September 2004 Christies in London held the auction Exploration and Travel with The Polar Sale, which included the work S.Y. Endurance Trapped In The Ice In The Weddell Sea by George Edward Marston. The price achieved of GBP 33,460.00 (€ 48,746.99) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 40,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, S.Y. Endurance Trapped In The Ice In The Weddell Sea is the most expensive artwork by George Edward Marston that we have observed at auctions so far.
