Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2010 Christies in London held the auction Exploration and Travel including the Polar Sale, which included the work Sledging camp in a blizzard by George Edward Marston. The price achieved of GBP 9,375.00 (€ 10,843.18) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Admittedly, works by George Edward Marston have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work S.Y. Endurance Trapped In The Ice In The Weddell Sea in September 2004 with an auction result of GBP 33,460.00 (€ 48,746.99).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2010 führte Christies in London die Auktion Exploration and Travel including the Polar Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sledging camp in a blizzard von George Edward Marston zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 9.375,00 (€ 10.843,18) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Edward Marston auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit S.Y. Endurance Trapped In The Ice In The Weddell Sea im September 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 33.460,00 (€ 48.746,99).
