Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2010 Christies in London held the auction Exploration and Travel including the Polar Sale, which included the work New Coastline West of Cape North, taken from the Nimrod, 8 March 1909 by George Edward Marston. The price achieved of GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,048.12) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 4,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Edward Marston achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work S.Y. Endurance Trapped In The Ice In The Weddell Sea in September 2004 with an auction result of GBP 33,460.00 (€ 48,746.99).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2010 führte Christies in London die Auktion Exploration and Travel including the Polar Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit New Coastline West of Cape North, taken from the Nimrod, 8 March 1909 von George Edward Marston zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 3.500,00 (€ 4.048,12) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 3.000,00 – 4.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Edward Marston erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit S.Y. Endurance Trapped In The Ice In The Weddell Sea im September 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 33.460,00 (€ 48.746,99).
