Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by George du Maurier could be acquired at Christies in London in December 2001 for an unexpectedly low price. In the BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL DRAWINGS AND WATERCOLOURS AND ILLUST auction, the work Social agonies changed hands for GBP 235.00 (€ 383.96) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 250.00 – 350.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George du Maurier achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'Two Thrones' in November 2000 with an auction result of GBP 8,812.50 (€ 14,403.68).

Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George du Maurier erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit 'Two Thrones' im November 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 8.812,50 (€ 14.403,68).
