Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Napoleon working the Gun at Toulon by George Cruikshank was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2004. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 100.00 – 300.00, the actual price achieved of USD 143.40 (€ 105.92) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Cruikshank achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Study for 'The Highland Whisky-Still' in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 7,409.00 (€ 10,816.91).
