Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Napoleon and his army effecting the Wonderful Passage of the Alps at Mount St. Bernard; and five plates from the same series by George Cruikshank was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2004, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 59.75 (€ 44.14). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Cruikshank achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Study for 'The Highland Whisky-Still' in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 7,409.00 (€ 10,816.91).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Napoleon and his army effecting the Wonderful Passage of the Alps at Mount St. Bernard; and five plates from the same series von George Cruikshank im Dezember 2004 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus.
