Auction result well in line with expectations

The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,360.00 (€ 4,814.27) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Clare - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Strawberries, apples, plums, and grapes in a wicker basket, on a mossy bank, which sold at auction in May 2002 for GBP 6,462.50 (€ 10,120.36).
