Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Grapes, apples, and a strawberry, on a mossy bank by George Clare was sold in the British and Continental Pictures and Works on Paper auction at Christies in London in January 2003. It changed hands for a price of GBP 493.50 (€ 755.85) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Clare achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Strawberries, apples, plums, and grapes in a wicker basket, on a mossy bank in May 2002 with an auction result of GBP 6,462.50 (€ 10,120.36).
