In October 2008 Christies in New York held the auction 19th Century European Art and Orientalist Art, which included the work Aida by Gaston Leroux. The »bidding war« ended at USD 18,750.00 (€ 14,784.73), 25% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gaston Leroux - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work French fumeur Et Musicienne, which sold at auction in June 2010 for GBP 25,000.00 (€ 30,402.33).
