Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Open Fields Under A Cloudy Sky by Gaston La Touche was sold in the 19th Century European Art auction at Sothebys in New York in June 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 21,250.00 (€ 18,920.84) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Gaston La Touche have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work L’Entracte in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 175,000.00 (€ 149,957.16).

Die Arbeit Open Fields Under A Cloudy Sky von Gaston La Touche wurde im Juni 2020 in der Auktion 19th Century European Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 21.250,00 (€ 18.920,84) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gaston La Touche auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit L’Entracte im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 175.000,00 (€ 149.957,16).
