Auction result misses estimated price range
In August 2004 a collector was able to acquire the work The Writer (Frieda) by Garry Shead for AUD 83,650.00 (€ 48,550.37). This price was achieved in the auction AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS at Christies in Sydney and was even below the estimate range of AUD 90,000.00 – 120,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Garry Shead have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Australian Queen Of Suburbia in August 2007 with an auction result of AUD 432,000.00 (€ 258,325.93).
