Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A young lady, full face in white dress with high standing lace border, tied bow at corsage, green cashmere shawl draped around her shoulders, her dark hair dressed in ringlets and plaited in a bun by Friedrich Ludwig Vieth von Goldenau was sold in the Important Portrait Miniatures including works from the auction at Christies in London in November 2001. The price achieved of GBP 998.75 (€ 1,589.33) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Admittedly, works by Friedrich Ludwig Vieth von Goldenau have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A young lady, facing left in lace-bordered blue velvet dress, triple strand pearl necklace, flowers in her upswept dark curling fair in April 2002 with an auction result of GBP 5,640.00 (€ 9,125.37).
