Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Friedrich Ludwig Vieth von Goldenau could be acquired at Christies in London in December 2007 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu, Silver & Russian Works of Art auction, the work Unknown changed hands for GBP 187.50 (€ 254.78) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 200.00 – 300.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Friedrich Ludwig Vieth von Goldenau achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A young lady, facing left in lace-bordered blue velvet dress, triple strand pearl necklace, flowers in her upswept dark curling fair in April 2002 with an auction result of GBP 5,640.00 (€ 9,125.37).
