Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Max Ernst by Frederick Sommer was auctioned at Phillips in New York in July 2020. The price achieved of USD 31,250.00 (€ 26,541.53) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frederick Sommer - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 'Livia', which sold at auction in October 2020 for USD 69,300.00 (€ 59,500.30).

Die Arbeit Max Ernst von Frederick Sommer kam im Juli 2020 bei Phillips in New York zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 31.250,00 (€ 26.541,53) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Frederick Sommer mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit 'Livia' beobachtet, die im Oktober 2020 für USD 69.300,00 (€ 59.500,30) versteigert wurde.
