In November 2012 Sothebys in Toronto held the auction Important Canadian Art, which included the work Landscape With Horses Drawing Logs by Frederick Simpson Coburn. The result of CAD 30,000.00 (€ 23,218.29) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of CAD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frederick Simpson Coburn - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Chatting On The Logging Trail, which sold at auction in May 2011 for CAD 129,000.00 (€ 92,622.29).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im November 2012 führte Sothebys in Toronto die Auktion Important Canadian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Landscape With Horses Drawing Logs von Frederick Simpson Coburn zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von CAD 30.000,00 (€ 23.218,29) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von CAD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Frederick Simpson Coburn mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Chatting On The Logging Trail beobachtet, die im Mai 2011 für CAD 129.000,00 (€ 92.622,29) versteigert wurde.
