This artwork by Frederick McCubbin achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2017. In the Australian Art auction, the work The Slipway, Williamstown sold for GBP 56,250.00 (€ 63,301.14) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frederick McCubbin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sawing Timber in December 2007 with an auction result of GBP 731,700.00 (€ 994,256.19).
