In May 2009 Sothebys in Melbourne held the auction The Ken and Rona Eastaugh Collection, which included the work Australian The Morning Train by Frederick McCubbin. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 86,400.00 (€ 48,888.23), 44% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frederick McCubbin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sawing Timber in December 2007 with an auction result of GBP 731,700.00 (€ 994,256.19).

Im Mai 2009 führte Sothebys in Melbourne die Auktion The Ken and Rona Eastaugh Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Australian The Morning Train von Frederick McCubbin zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von AUD 86.400,00 (€ 48.888,23) und damit 44% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Frederick McCubbin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sawing Timber im Dezember 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 731.700,00 (€ 994.256,19).
