Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2008 Sothebys in Melbourne held the auction Important Australian Art, which included the work Australian silver Moonlight by Frederick McCubbin. The price achieved of AUD 20,400.00 (€ 11,908.46) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 18,000.00 – 25,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frederick McCubbin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sawing Timber in December 2007 with an auction result of GBP 731,700.00 (€ 994,256.19).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im August 2008 führte Sothebys in Melbourne die Auktion Important Australian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Australian silver Moonlight von Frederick McCubbin zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von AUD 20.400,00 (€ 11.908,46) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit AUD 18.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Frederick McCubbin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sawing Timber im Dezember 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 731.700,00 (€ 994.256,19).
