Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Frederick McCubbin achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Sydney in May 2007. In the Important Australian Art Including Works from the Qantas Collection auction, the work Australian Chickens sold for AUD 210,000.00 (€ 129,125.10) - well above the upper estimate of AUD 75,000.00. Admittedly, works by Frederick McCubbin have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sawing Timber in December 2007 with an auction result of GBP 731,700.00 (€ 994,256.19).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Frederick McCubbin erzielte im Mai 2007 bei Sothebys in Sydney einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Important Australian Art Including Works from the Qantas Collection wurde die Arbeit Australian Chickens für AUD 210.000,00 (€ 129.125,10) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von AUD 75.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Frederick McCubbin auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Sawing Timber im Dezember 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 731.700,00 (€ 994.256,19).
