Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Australian Battleship In The Harbour by Frederick McCubbin was sold in the Important Australian Art Including Selected International Works auction at Sothebys in Melbourne in August 2007. It changed hands for a price of AUD 26,400.00 (€ 15,786.58) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of AUD 18,000.00 – 28,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frederick McCubbin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sawing Timber in December 2007 with an auction result of GBP 731,700.00 (€ 994,256.19).

Die Arbeit Australian Battleship In The Harbour von Frederick McCubbin wurde im August 2007 in der Auktion Important Australian Art Including Selected International Works bei Sothebys in Melbourne versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von AUD 26.400,00 (€ 15.786,58) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von AUD 18.000,00 – 28.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Frederick McCubbin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sawing Timber im Dezember 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 731.700,00 (€ 994.256,19).
