Auction result well in line with expectations
The work At the Mouth of the River, Williamstown by Frederick McCubbin was auctioned at Christies in Melbourne in April 2005. It changed hands for a price of AUD 28,680.00 (€ 17,391.37) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of AUD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frederick McCubbin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sawing Timber in December 2007 with an auction result of GBP 731,700.00 (€ 994,256.19).

Die Arbeit At the Mouth of the River, Williamstown von Frederick McCubbin kam im April 2005 bei Christies in Melbourne zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von AUD 28.680,00 (€ 17.391,37) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von AUD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Frederick McCubbin erzielen.
