Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Autumn Hills by Frederick Horsman Varley was auctioned at Sothebys in Toronto in December 2009. The price achieved of CAD 71,500.00 (€ 47,688.28) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as CAD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frederick Horsman Varley - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Mountain Road Through Lynn Valley, B.C., which sold at auction in November 2010 for CAD 232,500.00 (€ 173,715.10).
