Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Steeple Mountain - Kootenay Lake by Frederick Horsman Varley was sold in the Important Canadian Art auction at Sothebys in Toronto in May 2012. The price achieved of CAD 27,000.00 (€ 21,099.48) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as CAD 25,000.00 – 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by Frederick Horsman Varley have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Mountain Road Through Lynn Valley, B.C. in November 2010 with an auction result of CAD 232,500.00 (€ 173,715.10).
