Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Mountain Road, B.C. by Frederick Horsman Varley was sold in the Important Canadian Art auction at Sothebys in Toronto in May 2012. The price achieved of CAD 5,700.00 (€ 4,454.34) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as CAD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frederick Horsman Varley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Mountain Road Through Lynn Valley, B.C. in November 2010 with an auction result of CAD 232,500.00 (€ 173,715.10).
