The work Steeple Mountain From Twin Bays, B.C., Kootenay Lake by Frederick Horsman Varley was sold in the Important Canadian Art auction at Sothebys in Toronto in May 2011. The result of CAD 30,000.00 (€ 21,540.07) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of CAD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00. Admittedly, works by Frederick Horsman Varley have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Mountain Road Through Lynn Valley, B.C. in November 2010 with an auction result of CAD 232,500.00 (€ 173,715.10).
