Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Flower Mountain by Frederick Horsman Varley was auctioned at Sothebys in Toronto in November 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of CAD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for CAD 21,600.00 (€ 16,717.17). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frederick Horsman Varley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Mountain Road Through Lynn Valley, B.C. in November 2010 with an auction result of CAD 232,500.00 (€ 173,715.10).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Flower Mountain von Frederick Horsman Varley im November 2012 bei Sothebys in Toronto versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von CAD 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für CAD 21.600,00 (€ 16.717,17) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Frederick Horsman Varley erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Mountain Road Through Lynn Valley, B.C. im November 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von CAD 232.500,00 (€ 173.715,10).
