In January 2006 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Pictures, which included the work The river at Coulobres, Languedoc by Frederick Henry Stonham. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,080.00 (€ 1,582.96), 35% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Frederick Henry Stonham have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Reflections in January 2006 with an auction result of GBP 6,600.00 (€ 9,673.63).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 35 % übertroffen
Im Januar 2006 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit The river at Coulobres, Languedoc von Frederick Henry Stonham zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.080,00 (€ 1.582,96) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Frederick Henry Stonham auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Reflections im Januar 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.600,00 (€ 9.673,63).
