etching with drypoint, circa 1785-96, a good impression of this very rare print, trimmed on or just outside the platemark on three sides, a narrow margin below, laid down on an old album page, a small rubbed area at the shoulder of the angel at left, otherwise in good condition

In September 2007 Christies in London held the auction Old Master, Modern and Contemporary Prints, which included the work Saint Florian (Nagler 6) by Franz Anton Maulbertsch. The result of GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,433.93) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Franz Anton Maulbertsch achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Christus erscheint dem heiligen Thomas. in May 2015 with an auction result of EUR 100,000.00.
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im September 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master, Modern and Contemporary Prints durch, in der auch die Arbeit Saint Florian (Nagler 6) von Franz Anton Maulbertsch zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 1.000,00 (€ 1.433,93) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Franz Anton Maulbertsch erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Christus erscheint dem heiligen Thomas. im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 100.000,00.
