In July 2017 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master & British Works on Paper, which included the work Design For A Ceiling With The Assumption Of The Virgin by Franz Anton Maulbertsch. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 5,000.00 (€ 5,579.23), 25% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Franz Anton Maulbertsch achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Christus erscheint dem heiligen Thomas. in May 2015 with an auction result of EUR 100,000.00.

Im Juli 2017 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master & British Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit Design For A Ceiling With The Assumption Of The Virgin von Franz Anton Maulbertsch zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 5.000,00 (€ 5.579,23) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Franz Anton Maulbertsch erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Christus erscheint dem heiligen Thomas. im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 100.000,00.
