Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2020 Christies in New York held the auction Old Masters, which included the work Portrait of Henry IV of France (1553-1610), bust-length by Frans Pourbus the Younger. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 150,000.00 – 250,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 162,500.00 (€ 139,520.91) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frans Pourbus the Younger - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait En Buste D'Elisabeth De, which sold at auction in June 2014 for EUR 529,500.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2020 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Masters durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of Henry IV of France (1553-1610), bust-length von Frans Pourbus the Younger zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 150.000,00 – 250.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 162.500,00 (€ 139.520,91) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Frans Pourbus the Younger mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait En Buste D'Elisabeth De beobachtet, die im Juni 2014 für EUR 529.500,00 versteigert wurde.
