This artwork by Frans Hals achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in January 2008. In the Important Old Master Paintings Including European Works of Art auction, the work Portrait Of A Woman With Gloves sold for USD 937,000.00 (€ 631,359.07) - well above the upper estimate of USD 400,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frans Hals achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of a gentleman, aged 37; and Portrait of a lady, aged 36 in December 2018 with an auction result of GBP 10,021,250.00 (€ 11,164,561.26).
