Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Playfullness of the Waves by Frank William Cuprien was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in August 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 7,650.00 (€ 6,483.05). Admittedly, works by Frank William Cuprien have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Opalescence in August this year with an auction result of USD 51,200.00 (€ 47,236.83).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Playfullness of the Waves von Frank William Cuprien im August 2021 bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 7.650,00 (€ 6.483,05) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Frank William Cuprien auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Opalescence im August diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 51.200,00 (€ 47.236,83).
