Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Correll on the edge of a Ravine in the ice-sheet, Adelie Land by Frank Hurley was sold in the AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL & CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS auction at Christies in Sydney in August 2003. Here, the upper estimate of AUD 12,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for AUD 12,925.00 (€ 7,635.47). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frank Hurley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Photographs of Scenes and Incidents in connection with the happenings to the Weddell Sea Party 1914, 1915, 1916. in September 2006 with an auction result of GBP 120,000.00 (€ 177,025.30).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Correll on the edge of a Ravine in the ice-sheet, Adelie Land von Frank Hurley wurde im August 2003 in der Auktion AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL & CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS bei Christies in Sydney versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von AUD 12.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für AUD 12.925,00 (€ 7.635,47) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Frank Hurley erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Photographs of Scenes and Incidents in connection with the happenings to the Weddell Sea Party 1914, 1915, 1916. im September 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 120.000,00 (€ 177.025,30).
