Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Frank Hurley achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in September 2010. In the Exploration and Travel including the Polar Sale auction, the work A collection of ten monochrome photographic prints after Hurley of The Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition of 1914-1917, c. 1916 sold for GBP 2,500.00 (€ 2,891.52) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frank Hurley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Photographs of Scenes and Incidents in connection with the happenings to the Weddell Sea Party 1914, 1915, 1916. in September 2006 with an auction result of GBP 120,000.00 (€ 177,025.30).
In der Auktion Exploration and Travel including the Polar Sale wurde die Arbeit A collection of ten monochrome photographic prints after Hurley of The Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition of 1914-1917, c. 1916 für GBP 2.500,00 (€ 2.891,52) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.200,00.
