In May 2007 Christies in London held the auction The Irish Sale Part II, which included the work Tory Island from Ballyness by Frank Egginton. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 960.00 (€ 1,412.70), 37% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Frank Egginton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sheephaven and Melmore Head, from Horn Head, Co. Donegal in May 2001 with an auction result of GBP 7,050.00 (€ 11,819.49).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 37 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion The Irish Sale Part II durch, in der auch die Arbeit Tory Island from Ballyness von Frank Egginton zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 960,00 (€ 1.412,70) und damit 37% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Frank Egginton auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Sheephaven and Melmore Head, from Horn Head, Co. Donegal im Mai 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 7.050,00 (€ 11.819,49).
