Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2010 Sothebys in London held the auction An Exceptional Eye: A Private British Collection, which included the work A View Near The Arco Scuro, Looking Towards The Villa Medici, Rome by Francis Towne. The price achieved of GBP 97,250.00 (€ 116,932.17) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Francis Towne - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Lake Of Albano, Morning Sun Rising Over Rocca Del Papa, which sold at auction in July 2010 for GBP 289,250.00 (€ 347,790.53).

Im Juli 2010 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion An Exceptional Eye: A Private British Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit A View Near The Arco Scuro, Looking Towards The Villa Medici, Rome von Francis Towne zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 97.250,00 (€ 116.932,17) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Francis Towne mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Lake Of Albano, Morning Sun Rising Over Rocca Del Papa beobachtet, die im Juli 2010 für GBP 289.250,00 (€ 347.790,53) versteigert wurde.
