Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The merchantman Augustus Caesar in two positions in the Channel off Dover by Francis Holman was sold in the Maritime & Naval Battles (Pictures) auction at Christies in London in May 2007. The price achieved of GBP 14,400.00 (€ 21,190.57) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Admittedly, works by Francis Holman have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A view of Blackwell Yard from the Thames in December 2018 with an auction result of GBP 137,500.00 (€ 153,187.19).

Die Arbeit The merchantman Augustus Caesar in two positions in the Channel off Dover von Francis Holman wurde im Mai 2007 in der Auktion Maritime & Naval Battles (Pictures) bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 14.400,00 (€ 21.190,57) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Francis Holman auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A view of Blackwell Yard from the Thames im Dezember 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 137.500,00 (€ 153.187,19).
