In May 2012 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Art, which included the work The East Indiaman York in difficulties off Margate during the gale of 1st January 1779 by Francis Holman. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 13,750.00 (€ 17,131.90), 72% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Francis Holman have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A view of Blackwell Yard from the Thames in December 2018 with an auction result of GBP 137,500.00 (€ 153,187.19).

Im Mai 2012 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The East Indiaman York in difficulties off Margate during the gale of 1st January 1779 von Francis Holman zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 13.750,00 (€ 17.131,90) und damit 72% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Francis Holman auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A view of Blackwell Yard from the Thames im Dezember 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 137.500,00 (€ 153.187,19).
