Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In October 2008 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Art, which included the work Commodore James in the Protector, with the Revenge and the grab Bombay in the bay off the Suvarnadrug fort at Gheriah, India, April 1755 by Francis Holman. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 30,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 32,450.00 (€ 41,362.11). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Francis Holman - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A view of Blackwell Yard from the Thames, which sold at auction in December 2018 for GBP 137,500.00 (€ 153,187.19).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Oktober 2008 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Commodore James in the Protector, with the Revenge and the grab Bombay in the bay off the Suvarnadrug fort at Gheriah, India, April 1755 von Francis Holman zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 30.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 32.450,00 (€ 41.362,11) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Francis Holman mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A view of Blackwell Yard from the Thames beobachtet, die im Dezember 2018 für GBP 137.500,00 (€ 153.187,19) versteigert wurde.
