The work A British Sixth Rate Man Of War Off Dover, In Two Positions by Francis Holman was sold in the Old Master & British Paintings auction at Sothebys in London in May 2012. The price achieved of GBP 37,250.00 (€ 46,411.86) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 40,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Francis Holman - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A view of Blackwell Yard from the Thames, which sold at auction in December 2018 for GBP 137,500.00 (€ 153,187.19).
