Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In November 2002 Christies in London held the auction British Art on Paper, which included the work Portrait of Emma Madox Brown, bust-length by Ford Madox Brown. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 5,975.00 (€ 9,356.54), 20% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ford Madox Brown achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Last Of England in November 2004 with an auction result of GBP 206,850.00 (€ 297,552.61).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im November 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion British Art on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of Emma Madox Brown, bust-length von Ford Madox Brown zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 5.975,00 (€ 9.356,54) und damit 20% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ford Madox Brown erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Last Of England im November 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 206.850,00 (€ 297.552,61).
