Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Year of yisi, 63 by Fong Chung-Ray was auctioned at Bonhams in Hong Kong in December 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 50,000.00 – 80,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 40,009.50 (€ 4,220.14). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Fong Chung-Ray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work PAINTING 1984 - 26 in May 2017 with an auction result of HKD 750,000.00 (€ 85,639.91).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Year of yisi, 63 von Fong Chung-Ray im Dezember 2020 bei Bonhams in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 50.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 40.009,50 (€ 4.220,14) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Fong Chung-Ray erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit PAINTING 1984 - 26 im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 750.000,00 (€ 85.639,91).
