In September 2021 Bonhams in New York held the auction Chinese Ceramics, Works of Art and Paintings, which included the work Abstract Painting, 1966 by Fong Chung-Ray. The »bidding war« ended at USD 10,200.00 (€ 8,810.57), 70% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Fong Chung-Ray have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work PAINTING 1984 - 26 in May 2017 with an auction result of HKD 750,000.00 (€ 85,639.91).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 70 % übertroffen
Im September 2021 führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion Chinese Ceramics, Works of Art and Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Abstract Painting, 1966 von Fong Chung-Ray zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 10.200,00 (€ 8.810,57) und damit 70% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Fong Chung-Ray auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit PAINTING 1984 - 26 im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 750.000,00 (€ 85.639,91).
