However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Floris van Schooten - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Pewter plates with opened oysters, two mackerel, a bun, oyster shells, a bag of tobacco, matches, a white clay pipe, a berkemeier of white wine, a red earthenware brazier with embers and a pewter oval tobacco tin on a wooden table, which sold at auction in May 2004 for EUR 162,250.00.
