FENG GUIFEN (1809-1874) Six-character Calligraphic Couplet in Running Script A pair of hanging scrolls, ink on paper Each scroll measures 104.1 x 25.1 cm. (41 x 9 7 ⁄ 8 in.) Signed with two seals of the artist Further inscribed on both of the reverse of the mounting, with two seals of Fang Shuquian(1899-1987) and Fang Runhua (1924-2022) Both dated 1975 NOTE: Fang Shuquan (1899-1987), originally from Guangdong Province, had moved to Hong Kong with his father Fang Zhaoyi, and his eldest son Fang Runhua (1924-2022), establishing Yimei Sesame Factory in Shau Kei Wan during 1927. Fang later engaged in the import, export, and resale business, followed by the real estate and construction business during the period of Hong Kong Economic Restructuring. The Fangs are known as entrepreneur, social activists, and philanthropist, who have been highly hornored. The family has established a wide range of charitable organizations including Fang Zhaoyi Elementary School, Fong Shuqen Hospital, Fong Shu Fook Tong Foundation.
