Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work On the scent by Eugène Petit was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,504.21). Admittedly, works by Eugène Petit have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The chase; and Stalking the prey in April 2000 with an auction result of GBP 7,050.00 (€ 12,069.31).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit On the scent von Eugène Petit im November 2013 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.250,00 (€ 1.504,21) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Eugène Petit auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The chase; and Stalking the prey im April 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 7.050,00 (€ 12.069,31).
