In May 2012 Christies in New York held the auction Post-War and Contemporary Art Morning Session, which included the work #1 by Ernest Briggs. The »bidding war« ended at USD 74,500.00 (€ 60,255.58), 24% above the upper estimate. With this result, #1 is even the most expensive work of art by Ernest Briggs that we have observed at auctions so far.
