Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2003 Christies in London held the auction British Pictures 1500-1850, which included the work Portrait of Mary Rand, half-length, seated, in an oyster-satin dress with blue ribbons, holding a string of pearls, in an interior by a blue velvet curtain by Enoch Seeman. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,365.00 (€ 12,008.08) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Enoch Seeman have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of A Gentleman In Moroccan Dress, Probably John Montagu, 2Nd Duke Of Montagu (1690-1749) in December 2015 with an auction result of GBP 43,750.00 (€ 59,410.40).
